Hey there! I'm looking forward to seeing what you post... of course only when you have free time apart from school. I really hope you get your scanner back up and running.
Some advice though... right now it looks like you're trying to take pictures of your artwork. That's probably the only way to do things without a scanner, but it also seems you have the flash on. Try to maybe turn off the flash and mount your camera on a tripod or put it on a firm surface before taking the picture of your work. If you do that the lighting would probably be more even and you won't have this effect where your pictures are really bright in the middle and gray on the outsides.
